ATUG Chairman's Award for Innovation 2008

The Yvonne and John Almgren ATUG Innovation Award 2008
Celebrating Competition and Innovation in Communications

This Award was established in 2006 during ATUG’s 25th anniversary year. The Award recognises that one of the most important outcomes of competition in telecommunications is innovation, and the expansion of choice and improvement of services that innovation drives.

The Award is administered by ATUG and will be presented by the ATUG/EVUA Enterprise Conference Cocktail Party.

The winner and runner up will receive a trophy, certificate and a cash prize. Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judging panel and no correspondence will be entered into.

Nominations close on the 3rd September.

Award Criteria
The award recognises Australian small to medium sized companies or individuals that have developed product and services that are regarded as significant innovations in the communications sector. The product or service must be shown to have been of benefit to end users either though a successful pilot or market entry of at least six months during the 12 months immediately preceding the award nomination.

The judges will give weight to following elements:

  • The degree of innovation of the product or service
  • The effectiveness of the product or service
  • The benefits of the product or service to end users
  • The degree of support for the product or service from end users

Award Process
Companies may be nominated or nominate themselves. Nominees do not have to be ATUG members.

Submissions will be via online entry in the format provided.
Nominees will be asked to:

  • provide a short profile of their company,
  • demonstrate that the nominated product or service has been piloted or recently entered the market
  • explain the degree of innovation
  • describe the effectiveness of the product or service
  • provide end user feedback on the benefits of product or service
  • provide evidence of end user support for the product or service
  • provide details of two referees who have agreed to be contacted by ATUG if necessary

ATUG will shortlist the nominations against the award criteria.

ATUG will convene a judging panel comprising the Chairman, Managing Director and up to two expert advisers. The judging panel will determine the award winner(s) from the shortlist and the winner will be announced at ATUG/EVUA Cocktail Party on the 16th September.

ATUG will announce the shortlist of finalists on the ATUG website and in ATUG This Week.
