ATUG
2006 Satellite Forum More recently, satellite operators have expanded their product range to include broadband and mobile services, voice telephony and IP backbone connectivity, new operators have entered the market and price and service offerings have improved. There is now a further awareness of satellite services and a wider group of ATUG members has become interested in understanding how the service and price offerings of satellite service providers might fit into their overall network planning requirements. ATUG members are looking for solutions that deliver services to regional and remote branches, offices and locations. The productivity benefits of information and communications technologies are well known but choice has been previously limited for buyers, with dispersed operations, to terrestrial services at uncompetitive prices. These users are interested in being updated with current satellite options and prices. The ATUG 2006 Satellite Forum is an opportunity for users and providers to join in an update session to exchange information about needs and services, about new applications, successes and the experiences of other users of satellite services. ATUG has played an important role in telecommunications for over 25 years – focusing on competition and choice for end users. ATUG’s annual information program is designed to foster innovation in the market for communications services. ATUG’s forums aim to support user choice by providing independent, reliable information about providers, platforms and products in an atmosphere of open debate and discussion.
