ATUG 2004 Conference

ATUG’s 20TH Annual Conference, ATUG 2004, will be held in Sydney at the Inter-Continental Hotel on 3-4 March 2004.

Since ATUG 2003 there have been many developments in the communications world and much to discuss at ATUG 2004 but the core issue for users is the same - Australian businesses must have access to world class, reliable telecommunications services, at competitive prices so they can compete effectively, domestically and internationally.

ATUG 2004 will provide an independent forum for infocomms professionals to hear from experts on policy, industry and technology developments and to discuss these matters in an informal setting with industry leaders and colleagues.

The ATUG 2004 program has been designed to reflect user interest in the “next-generation” communications needed to support business and government service delivery – broadband, wireless, mobility, IP networks, and security.

Policy and regulation continue to be important elements of the communications landscape. The Minister for Communications, IT and the Arts, Senator Richard Alston has been invited to deliver the Key Note address in the Policy Update session. Speakers from the ACCC, the ACA and the ABA will also present “progress reports”.

Keeping an eye on “what’s next” will be an important part of ATUG 2004. The trends sessions will be include industry thought leaders such as Gartner, IDC, Paul Budde and NOIE.

The ATUG 2004 Showcase gives conference delegates the chance to explore applications and services. Feedback from showcase sponsors and delegates in 2003 highlighted the value of the opportunity to discuss new products and services.

Of course no ATUG conference would be complete without great opportunities to network. The ATUG 2004 Cocktail Party and the ATUG Gala Dinner at Sydney Town Hall, will both provide valuable opportunities for exchange of ideas and experiences.

Communications service providers and achievement will present the 19th ATUG Annual Awards at the Gala Dinner to recognise excellence by communications professionals. The winners are an impressive testament to continuing innovation in the communications industry.
