23rd ATUG Awards, Australian Technology Park, 7th March 2007
ATUG proudly presented the 23rd ATUG Awards at the 2007 ATUG Gala Dinner attended by over 350 people from industry and end user organisations. The Awards were presented by Senator Stephen Conroy, Shadow Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Mr Keith Besgrove, Chief General Manager Access & Consumer Division, DCITA and Mr Paul Morris, ATUG Director and Awards Chairman. ATUG’s Awards are the oldest and most respected Awards for Australian Communications achievements a.
The Awards recognise the achievements of people and companies working to advance the use of communications services which are now so critical to business growth,competitiveness and efficiency.
ATUG also presented for the FIRST time ATUG’s National Awards for the Effective Use of Broadband.

Agriculture, Mining and Transport The winner for the Agriculture, Mining and Transport sector is Mackay Sugar. Their broadband solution allows automated management of farming, harvesting, transport and milling. |

Security The Winner of the 2007 Security Category is Onsite Track Easy. By replacing the sign-in sheet with a swipe card linked via broadband to an intelligent database, Onsite gives customers the ability to know who is present on site with confidence, accuracy and efficiency. |

Community The winner is City of Whittlesea. The City of Whittlesea in Victoria has worked to secure advanced broadband services for their community. The Victorian State Government through VicUrban has installed a fibre to the home solution for up to 8000 residents at its Aurora estate, delivering five play services (phone, internet , FTA TV, videos on demand and pay TV) over a 100 megabit link. In addition the City of Whittlesea’s efforts have included free training in the use of broadband for over 1500 residents and 200 businesses in their municipality. |

Health The winner for 2007 is Kadina Medical Associates, South Australia. Kadina Medical Associates has three branches in regional South Australia. They have connected nursing homes, branch clinics, chemists and hospitals through a team of dedicated health care professionals and the implementation of broadband to create a local health network. To quote Kadina; “You do not need to be a multinational firm or Government department with budgets of millions of dollars to make an idea a reality. For less than $1000 we have created a health network that is reaping benefits for doctors, patients and other health providers.” |
