The
ATUG/Macquarie Telecom Breakfast series in October 2006 featured the topic "Decoding
reality from rhetoric - what do T3, G9, ULL, FTTN mean for competition
in telecommunications in 2006 and beyond?" which was presented
by Maha Krishnapillai, Group Executive, Carrier & Strategy and Simon
Brown, Product Manager, Data Networks with Macquarie Telecom. The presentation

Maha Krishnapillai
Maha Krishnapillai, Group Executive, Carrier & Strategy started with Macquarie
Telecom in 1997. In addition to heading Macquarie’s Southern Regional
office, his responsibilities include industry strategy, carrier negotiation & partnerships,
Government liaison, regulatory and other strategic commercial issues for Australia
and the Asia-Pacific region.
Maha’s
background includes seven years’ experience
with AUSTEL [the Government’s telecommunications regulator till 1997,
where he held a wide range of management positions. He holds a BSc (Mathematics)
and Post-Graduate qualifications in Management.
Simon Brown
Simon is the Senior Product Manager at Macquarie Telecom with over 20 years
in the Telecommunications Industry and a background in Engineering Manufacturing.
A former Marketing Chair of the Frame Relay Forum, he has been instrumental
in the development and launch of many network services including X.25,
ISDN, Frame Relay, ATM, IP and MPLS. Simon is actively involved in the
application of new age access technologies for corporate use.
