"They are very professional. The only plumber to answer my call at 11am on a Saturday morning after our boiler started leaking water everywhere. By 4:00 pm, I was enjoying a hot shower, after he arranged to have a new boiler delivered and cut short his Christmas shopping trip to fit it for us. I can't recommend highly enough. What Does a Plumber Do?
Plumbers are skilled workers who install and maintain water and sewer systems in almost all settings like agricultural, industrial, commercial and residential. Plumbing is definitely more than repairing damaged and clogged water lines. The job is so vast that plumbers have different field of specializations.
All kinds of plumber have a general knowledge in laying sewer lines, installing pipes and valves for both pressurized and non-pressurized water systems and maintaining all these works in good working conditions. A plumber who can work on all these jobs is called a general plumber.
However, some plumbers do have specializations. For instance, pipelayers are more knowledgeable and experienced in mounting different kinds of water and sewer lines in municipal, commercial, industrial, agricultural and residential settings. They are expected to observe all plumbing codes and should have a capability to fully understand blueprints of water lines and sewerages in order to lay all plumbing materials precisely.
Pipefitter is another type of plumber who specializes in mounting and executing other related service works on water, gas and steam systems that are powered by pressure and most often found in manufacturing and industrial environments. Generally, a pipefitter connects tubes, ducts, hoses and valves to form systems of various kinds, and conduct regular maintenance checks on them to ensure that they are functional.
An amateur plumber could gain mastery of the job by the taking vocational or short courses at colleges or universities. They could also choose to pay for an apprenticeship program.
Plumbers can either be self-employed or as an employee in a larger construction. Their service rates or salary vary widely depending on the size of the project they are doing and their respective work experiences. However, plumbers who are self-employed tend to earn more money since they directly communicate and transact business with their clients.
